Product Description
Sunpentown Evaporative Air Cooler. Conveniently rolls from room to room and uses LESS energy than Air Conditioners! The Air Cooler does exactly what the name implies, though it's not an air conditioner. Here's how it works: The Evaporative Air Cooler sucks air through a wick saturated with water. As the air flows through the wick, some of the water evaporates into the air, consuming the heat that's in the air. Cooled down, that air is then blown out the front of the unit to offer you relief in warm, stuffy, uncomfortable spaces. Note: Works well in dry climates; not very effective in areas with high humidity as the unit utilizes water to cool. Cool down: Remote control; 10L water tank capacity; Activated carbon filter helps remove odor; Nylon and photocatalytic filter; Three air speeds: H / M / L; Sleep mode; Timer: from 1/2-hour to 7 1/2-hour setting; Input voltage: 120V / 6 0Hz; Power consumption: 60W; 16 x 25 x 12". 17 lbs.; Order yours today and beat the heat! 1 out of 5 stars Worst product and worst service   September 2, 2010

I live in Arizona and knew that the product was an evaporative cooler. When I received it it worked ok but the pump died after a month. So I have just a fan no cooler. I went to Sunpentown and they said they would send another unit. After 2 weeks I called and told them I had not receive a replacement. "Oh Sorry!" they said and then shipped my replacement a week later. This one lasted 10 days before the pump went out. I tried Sunpentown again and they told me that they were busy but would get right back to me. Not a chance that that is going to happen. And it hasn't. All you end up with for your money is a very expensive floor fan that isn't even very good for that. Please save your money. This product is worthless

5 out of 5 stars This Air Cooler works great!   August 28, 2010

I read the reviews on Amazon before I brought this Air Cooler and all of the good ones were right on! This is not an Air Conditioner but it is a great Air Cooler and it directs cool air into the room. I live in San Diego CA and there are some days that are hot and dry where this cooler works wonderfully to cool down the temperature in the room. My cat loves it and I am very glad I bought it. I really have to thank all the positive reviews I read about this cooler because I probably would not have tried it at all without the spot on positive reviews listed here. It's also a great deal. I have a friend who brought a similiar cooler for a much higher price tag. I have no regrets and I'm using the Cooler almost every day this summer.

The unit isn't very impressive. I wouldn't really call it a swamp cooler. Sure, it evaporates air but unit is more in line with a humidifier than a "cooler".
Like others have stated, this is not an AC unit, nor will it "cool" things off like you might want it to.
I expect it's use may change as the seasons change but in the heat of the summer it won't cut the mustard.
For $100 I could have picked up a more quiet fan and probably been happier but I'm not out too much.

The timer function is nice. I can see running this in the winter to add some moisture to the house.

Well basically it a 100 dollar fan and that's about all as for cooling the does not do it very well your better of with a good fan because its no worth the money

1 out of 5 stars Extreme Disappointment   August 17, 2010

Having vertical windows and picky apartment managers I opted for a portable air cooler. I live in the Pacific Northwest so it is not hot here for extended periods of time, but we are experiencing a heat wave and my upstairs apartment often becomes unbearable.

When I was purchasing this item, the rating was at least 1 star higher than it is now, so I trusted what others were saying.

Mistake. PLEASE do not buy this product if you are actually expecting it to cool you off - even slightly.

I haven't even had it for a month and a half and it is broken, not that it worked in the first place. I paid $100 with shipping, but I feel I've been ripped off.
I follow the manual's advice and put the proper ratio of ice and water, and it never did the job it promised to do.

Not only that but the "filter" gets dirty very quickly and the little plastic arms inside that control the "swing" are already breaking off, one by one.

Let me specify: THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE, HUGE and UGLY FAN. MY $30 HOLMES OSCILLATING FAN DOES A BETTER JOB.
