Amazon.com Product Description
The Wave multitool's compact folded shape hides a wealth of tools and blades within. | The Wave Multitool From Leatherman: Better than Ever
The most popular full-size Leatherman tool is now better than ever. Larger knives, stronger pliers, longer wire cutters and all-locking blades make the new Wave an essential piece of equipment for any job or adventure. The pliers have been redesigned to withstand more than double the previous squeezing load, and the new bronze bushing makes one-handed knife access a smooth operation -- plus, the one-at-a-time blade selection function means that the tool you want is the tool you get. The versatile Wave comes with a durable and attractive nylon sheath. The Wave includes several screw bits for added versatility. | Expand your Wave's capabilities with the optional bit kit, pocket clip, or lanyard ring (not included). | User Features
This Wave model has four exterior blades that can be accessed even while the tool is closed. (Note: the knife blade can only be opened when the tool is closed.) You can open the blades with one hand by placing your thumb in the thumbhole at the base of the blade, and rotating until the knife is fully extended. This securely engages the locking mechanism. The saw and file both have nail nicks at their tips for easy access. The locking mechanism is marked with a padlock symbol on the tool itself. To unlock the blades, all you have to do is press the locking mechanism toward the handle until the blade slides past the lock. Accessing the interior features is a snap, too -- just grip the handles and rotate them open. Each interior blade can be opened by using the nail nicks. The scissors extend in the very same way, and they lock into place for secure, safe use. And of course, it's easy to change the tool bits, too. Just remove the bit from the driver and pop a new one into place. Optional Accessories (not included)
Expand your Wave's capabilities with the Bit Kit, offering 21 double-ended bits. Or, you can add a pocket clip and quick-release lanyard ring. What's in the box:

Owned it, bought it as a gift August 31, 2010 M. V. Damiano I had one for the past several years and I wanted to buy it for someone else as a gift. Mine has seen some heavy use. Blades still sharp.
I broke the tip off the smallest flat head bit, so watch out for over tightening. I also tapped a live wire, with gloves on, and it burnt a chunk out of the tip of the plyers. Still works great, and the issues I have are all user created.
Leatherman Wave August 30, 2010 kaglecom Well, I'm happy. It's not the kind of thing I use all of the time, but I've got two knives, a saw, a file, some screwdrivers, scissors, etc., all at hand. I got the Wave at something between $50 and $55. I guess the top of the line is the Charge, the one with the Titanium or Aluminum frame, which saves you some weight, with about the same tools. The Wave is somewhat heavy ... I wouldn't want it in my pocket or even on my belt. But the Charge costs over $100, and I didn't want to spend that much on what is really an experiment, as I've never owned a multi-tool before.
Leatherman Wave with Nylon Sheath August 28, 2010 PawneeStrider74a This is the best compromise on price; size; weight, and feautures of all the leathermen. The only thing lacking is an awl. If you are new to multi-tools? some of the them have the blades inside the handles; so you have to open the pliers all the way to get at the blades; then the other handle is in the way when you try to slice the salami. On the wave the main blades are on the out side you can open them with one hand and they lock open. Plus the other handle is not in the way. There are little noches on the back of the serrated blade so you can tell the difference. Does not work for me; I added the pocket clip to my wave; now I can feel the clip on the bottom and flick open the knife blade with out looking. Or vise versa and open the serrated blade. That's the blade for cutting 550 cord, anchor ropes, or seat belts. Leatherman does make tools with seat belt cutters but, that is a trade off for something more useful. I think the seat belt cutter is tottaly unnecessary; the serrated blade on the wave does not have a sharp poing and can easily be slipped behind a seat belt.
Complete tool, nice price and plus a nylon holster August 18, 2010 tadex-ve EN: Simply just an amazing multitool, I just love all the features... Has a great quality tools, in a word: EXCELENT!
ES: Simplemente una herramienta sorprendente, adoro todas sus características... Herramientas de gran calidad, en una palabra: EXCELENTE!
A perfect purchase July 27, 2010 Johnny Volatile (Los Angeles, CA) I was using the Leatherman Skeletool but found the fold out knife a bit hard to use, as well as the screwdriver bits rather useless. So I purchased the Wave and have not regretted a single second of it. The Wave has just the right amount of tools available, and the fold out knife is easy to get to and easy to use. I also thought that the weight of the Wave would become a pain to carry, but the opposite is actually true. I use this tool no less than 6-7 times a day.
So if you're in the market for a multitool, I strongly suggest the Wave (with the leather sheath).
