5 out of 5 stars Filter quieter than the Drinkwell   June 2, 2010

My Mom's cat needed to drink more water because she was having UTIs. So I bought my mom the Drinkwell water fountain. The fountain was loud so her cat wouldn't go near it. So then I bought the Cat it fountain her cat immediately loved it.

I took the Drinkwell for my cats. I found it to be a problem for keeping it filled and cleaning. I also noticed only two of my cats would even approach it (I had six at the time). Long story short I bought another Cat it and not only do my cats love it but so does the dogs. I set the Drinkwell in the kitchen and the Cat It upstairs and I noticed they all go up stairs for the water (my vet recommends water and food on every level of a multi cat house). Cleaning it is a snap and filling it is no problem. I have had the Cat it fountain over a year and was not able to find it in stores nearby. But now that I know it is available on Amazon I will be ordering it. I will get rid of the Drinkwell all together.

1 out of 5 stars Scary: electrical fault - bio hazard to cats - BAD BAD BAD   May 25, 2010
L. Conrad
Electical plug overheated, kept tripping GFI outlet. I used it for a week, changed water & washed every day because it got slimy. I stopped using and returned when cats all got upper resp. infections that started in those that used the fountain. BAD BAD BAD! Even with refund, this ended up being very spendy experiment due to vet bill for all the kitties - went back to slow drip in bathtup - no electric problems and no sick cats!

4 out of 5 stars leaking   May 23, 2010

So far this fountain has suited its purpose. I find it leaks a lot though. Any one else have this problem?

5 out of 5 stars Great Product. Motor Problem Solved.   May 17, 2010

This is my second purchase of this product. The first fountain I bought had the motor burn out within a few weeks. I now realize what the cause was. This fountain can take almost a 1/2 gallon of water. When the motor started making a louder than normal "humming" noise, I simply added more water which is not what you should do. Filling it while plugged in will give you a false sense of how full it is because of the movement of the water. To fill it, unplug it first and you'll see just how much...or little water is left in the fountain. I've filled it while plugged in and it took only a few cups but unplugged it took almost a half gallon. The loud humming noise is your cue to unplug it and fill it. If you do that, the motor won't burn out.

3 out of 5 stars pump quits   April 30, 2010
P. Mazurowski (Tonawanda, NY)
Had this product for about a year. Cat loves it. Unfortunately, the pump quit and I cannot find a replacement. Kinda hard to justify a $25 purchase every year plus the cost of filters. I'd gladly pay $10 more for it if the pump worked longer.
