2 out of 5 stars Made her poop soft   March 30, 2009

I was previously feeding Purina Pro to my Siberian Husky puppy, which was fine and she had no problems with it, but I really wanted to feed her something more high grade so I asked the Petsmart employee what he recommended. He highly suggested the Blue Buffalo brand which I looked into. The ingredients seem legit because there's a lot of healthy stuff in it, but perhaps it's too much carbs or fiber because it made my puppies stool super soft, mushy, and smelly. I read a great article about how to find the best dog food for your pup - [...]. I think I'm going to try Innova or Canidae next. Crossing fingers that it will fare better than Blue Buffalo!! I probably won't be purchasing anymore dog food from Petsmart from here on out.

5 out of 5 stars Great dog food   September 19, 2008

Though flea free, our 4lb Chihuahua was always scratching. After trying all the special shampoos and creams, our vet recommended a change of diet and suggested Blue Buffalo.

We'd switched to the "super premium" dog foods before (Canidae, Innova, Orijen), all of which he either would not eat or gave him the runs far longer the usual "adjustment" period.

Nearly a year later, he is thriving on Blue Buffalo. The ingredients are wonderful and wholesome, he actually gets excited at meal time, his coat is soft and shiny and his skin has stopped itching.

I'd like to note that those other brands weren't bad at all, they just weren't right for our little guy. Dogs are as particular and different as people, and because your Fido doesn't do well on Brand X doesn't make it a bad food, it just means you haven't found the right one for him. Just make sure the ingredients are good and wholesome, balanced and preferably as natural as possible.

1 out of 5 stars Beware!   June 11, 2008

Look out my people. We bought this same exact bag in the Pet Smart store. My boxers don't throw it up which is unusual and the company advertises that it is totally healthy. I think it tastes pretty good too. Well after about a week of using it I kept noticing a silver colored paint on my knuckles and hands. I tracked it down to the inside bag liner of the dog food. Yes thats right all of the aluminum liner was wearing into the dog food. I'm pretty sure that no matter how healthy they claim the dog food is the paint can't be good.

Love,
Oscar and Darla
