5 out of 5 stars Very pleased with this crib   September 1, 2010

We previously purchased a crib online and did not let our baby sleep in it once because it was so flimsy - The rails were wobbly, the mattress didn't fit the crib, the distance between the rails was too big). Then we ordered this crib and were hesitant at first, but once we got it and put it together we were VERY impressed at how sturdy it is. We would not hesitate to recommend this crib to anyone. Our baby sleeps well in it and we sleep well knowing she is in a safe crib.

4 out of 5 stars Beautiful, sturdy. But scratches/indents easily!!!   September 1, 2010

I absolutely fell in love with this crib when I first found it over a year ago. I spent my entire pregnancy eying this crib and contemplating purchasing. After months and months (my ENTIRE pregnancy) of reading reviews and comparing prices on half a dozen different sites carrying this crib, I finally dove in and bought it. I was skeptical considering I had read on other sites that this DaVinci Kalani scratched easily. After opening the packaging and carefully inspecting I found the crib to only have a few minor scratches from rubbing up against itself and the box during shipment. I was VERY careful while putting this together. I indented and scratched it a few times while setting it up. I am somewhat of a whiz at building things and putting things together (anything Ikea can be done by myself without the instructions in under 30 minutes) and this took me an hour by myself. So a couple, I am sure, could easily do it in an hour or less. I am less worried about the indenting and scratching after seeing how sturdy this piece of furniture is. Though my review may change once my 3 month old becomes more mobile. I will definitely have to buy teething guards for this furniture....I will ABSOLUTELY NOT want teeth marks all over the crib (which will undoubtedly happen, don't underestimate my statement when I say this furniture scratches and indents easily). I would return this but this crib is just so aesthetically pleasing. Clean lines, modern looking. Everything I was looking for. And I am somewhat handy, I can take care of any problems with scratches and indents on my own with a small trip to Lowes. If you feel you can deal with/handle the scratches and indenting, I highly recommend this product. Just go to the hardware store and get a little fiberglass or something to fully cover the crib...should do the trick. (don't take my word for it, my solution is still in theory form. I have to see what is and isn't safe for baby, get recommendations from doc and hardware store professionals before purchasing anything to cover and protect the crib)

Anyway, enjoy! I know I do, it looks so great in my apartment! And my daughter is loving it!

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful Crib   August 29, 2010

I agonized over choosing a crib for our new baby. I read tons of reviews on several different websites and of several different cribs. Ultimately we chose this crib and could not be happier. We ordered the crib in cherry hoping, like other reviewers had mentioned, that the color would be a little darker than what was pictured. I would say the color ended up being more like the espresso color pictured when the crib showed up. This is what I had wanted so we were happy with it but that would be something to consider if ordering the cherry color and you are expecting the lighter color pictured. The crib has 4 height settings that will be easy to adjust as our baby gets older. Also the toddler rail came with the crib and that will save us in the long run if not with money but also with having to try and match the wood color. I haven't had a problem yet with the wood scratching. I read that in a lot of reviews so I have been very aware of that possibility but my ring and belt have caught the wood several times without leaving a mark. The crib came in perfect condition save one little scratch that was on the inside of the back leg. It wasn't enough to send it back and with the crib being sent overseas I thought it was amazing it made it with very minimal damage. Kudos to the company for packing the crib so well!! The sleigh part of the crib does lend some difficulty to attatching items to the crib ie. crib bumpers, mirrors, aquariums etc. We had no problem putting the crib together. It took only an hour between my husband and I. It wouldn't say it's a 2 person job but it definitely helps having a second set of hands there to hold up the pieces. Overall we are extremely pleased with our purchase and if I had to make the decision all over again I would definitely choose this crib again.

Love this crib! We had it for our son until he outgrew it, now our nephew has it! I believe it also turns into a bed if you want to keep it, you just have to purchase longer side pieces.

5 out of 5 stars More than what I expected!   August 13, 2010

I have a baby 4 months old and asked many of my friends what crip I should buy.
After a long period of searching here and there, and considerations, I decided to get this item.
The conclusion is that this item is fully satisfying my expection and more over.
Very sturdy and hard in its frame, the crip also shows a luxurious look.
My wife urged me ordered other item(diaper changing table) from the crip manufacturer, so I ordered one yesterday!
It took about 30 minutes to assembly it. I had a lot of fun to do that. (needing a screw driver, which was not included.)
The only flaw I have to mention is that it gets scratches easily. Be cautious when you are around the crip!
However, my wife and I strongly recommend this item.
