very pleased August 21, 2010 S. Soule (Riverside, CT United States) have bought several of these coffee makers -- just wished they lasted longer -- this one as the best design so far.
Absolutely the worst coffeemaker I have ever owned. August 20, 2010 S Barger (Cypress, CA) I cannot express how disappointed I was with this coffeemaker. I have owned other Cuisinart appliances before and purchased this with the confidence that I was getting a quality machine. I ended up with grounds all over my countertop more times than not, and grounds in my coffee always. This is after following directions to a tee! I use Gevalia coffee, which is a finer grind; this may have been the reason for the runover. BUT, I should not have to settle for a weaker cup of coffee, or need to use a coarse grind when I grind my own beans in order to get a decent cup of coffee. the coarse grind, with the small amount of beans allowed = a very weak cup of coffee. After much very frustrating correspondance with Cuisinart, with no satisfactory results, I returned the coffeemaker, with my receipt to Bed, Bath and Beyond. I replaced it with a Mr Coffee and a separate grinder. I couldn't be happier with the ease of making a simple pot of coffee, with was not the case with the Grind & Brew 650. Due to the terrible customer service, (all they would do is send a new filter holder and lid, which was not the problem...I threw them away when the package arrived) I will never purchase another Cuisinart product again. Please read the 1 and 2 star reviews before you make this purchase. I was NOT alone.
Cuisinart Grind and Brew Thermal Coffeemaker August 6, 2010 Anna Dorosz (Chicago, IL) Love it! makes the most delicious coffee I ever had. Keeps it warm for a long time. Couldn't ask for a better coffeemaker. My first time using Cuisinart.
LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR A COFFEE MAKER! August 6, 2010 Mike Nicholls 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
In short- THIS PRODUCT SUCKS! I have no idea what the designers of this product were thinking? The look of the coffee maker is what I imagine is the only thing that draws suckers- er I mean people in. I have made coffee 3 times with this item and already somehow my countertop has become a pool of mixed water and coffee grounds for a third time. One may ask- "Did he read the directions?" As pitiful as it sounds- yes I have read directions to a coffee maker. When one has to resort to reading directions from a coffee maker, technology has obviously surpassed human intellect.
The carafe- Without ranting, this was the worst design. After cleaning the mess that the item makes constantly, I immediately think about the J@ck@$$ in horned rimmed glasses and Berkenstock sandals who sat in his little cubicle at a computer and designed what he thought would be "hip" and "a fresh" design. When in reality he has successfully created my White Whale.
You would have a better day if you started boiling your coffee over open flame in a speckle-ware coffee perculator. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! You have been warned.
Good things but one con August 2, 2010 A Wheel Bought this locally because it was on sale but I was a little skeptical because of the mixed reviews so I kept all the packaging in case I needed to return it. Now I am recycling that packaging because we are enjoying this coffee maker. We had a Krups for 5 years and it started to go haywire (probably from our crazy power outages) but we loved it because of the thermal carafe that kept our coffee hot ALL day. After some research, we decided to try a coffee maker with a grinder built in to save ourselves a step. We have had this for a month and it works wonderful.
Pros: Love that it filters the water, comes with the reusable filter, makes flavorful coffee (coffee we had been using in our old machine tasted even better)and makes coffee quickly
Con: thermal carafe does not do as good a job as our Krups did but it does keep the coffee hot for a few hours.
Also, if you are looking for something that is low maintenance, then this might not be for you as you do have to clean the grinder and dry it each time you use whole beans but it only takes a few seconds to do that so I don't count that as a con because it grinds then makes the coffee so quickly that you really do not use extra time. It also makes an audible whirring sound when it grinds the beans but it is quieter than the grinder we were using. If the carafe kept the coffee hot longer, I'd give it 5 stars.
