1 out of 5 stars Do Not Buy a Saeco Product   March 28, 2010

I agree with the reviewer who says the Odea leaks (mine started day one) and the customer service is non-existent. I purchased my Odea a year ago. I decided I could live with the leaking issue as it brewed a descent cup of java. However when the unit ceased to function altogether, I contacted the customer service email listed in the unit. After a week they responded and told me to contact the warranty vendor (Saeco, it turns out, does not offer any warranty on their product!).

I called the number they gave me and got a recording. I left phone number and email contact info. They have not responded.

I contacted Saeco again and they said, in essence, tough luck--that's when they told me that they offer no warranty service on the products they sell.

Any company that does not warranty its product is a failed company. I will never even consider purchasing another Saeco product and would recommend you do not buy any Saeco machine.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent machine.   March 22, 2010

I first tried the Jura Capressa ENA4 but I was disappointed by the watery finish and weak brew. Despite multiple attempts at troubleshooting, I just couldn't get the coffee from the ENA4 strong enough for my taste. Luckily, I had purchased it from a large wholesale warehouse that offers a tremendous return policy. I then purchased this Saeco Odea Giro II and I've been hooked. Although it isn't physically as low profile or elegant as the ENA4, the coffee it brews is much stronger and creates a bolder drink- much more my style. I have had the machine for 2 months now and I've been quite pleased. The coffee is tasty- I set it at the espresso end of the quantity and brew 2 shots at a time- and super fast. The milk foamer is fine. Some drawbacks to the machine: 1. It has a single error light (a red exclamation point) to warn you of multiple different errors including low water, a full drip tray, a full coffee puck receptacle, and a need for more beans. Sometimes you have to cycle through addressing all of these possible errors before finding the correct problem. 2. It does seem to drip a LOT of water into the drip tray- this requires emptying >1/wk if you use it daily. 3. The plastic gives it a somewhat cheap feel. Despite these drawbacks, I've been quite happy because, ultimately, I really wanted a high quality, fast, consistent cup of espresso. This machine delivers.

My machine stopped working the second day I tried to use it. Customer service is not in on weekends (which is the only time I make coffee at home). Forget it, not worth the hassle. Thank god I got it at Costco so returning it was no problem.

Did I mention how big and ugly it is?

5 out of 5 stars So Far I love it   January 2, 2010

This is my first Espresso machine but after spending a small fortune over the years at Starbucks I thought I would give one a try. I was looking for really good lattes, really easy and so far this machine has been amazing. It took 5 minutes to get it working and over the last week I have played with the options to get the prefect cup for me as well as my wife. Now I just push a button and get the espresso just how I like it and then steam the milk and I am good to go. I have to add water about once a day and that does 2-3 large cups with the milk. After I am done I wipe it off and a couple times a week empty the grounds and spent water. Once a week or so you need to remove the pump (just slides out) and rinse it off.
I have only had the machine a week so I cant talk about the durability but if you are looking for great espresso easy then I recommend this machine.

I purchased a Saeco, Odea Go 1 1/2 years ago and it has blinked a lot and I was always able to control the blinking lights, now I took Brew group out and now you cannot insert it back. I have followed the instructions with no success.
