| Customer Reviews: Improvement on a great predecessor. March 10, 2010 Richard M. Young (Mesquite, Nevada USA) We owned the predecessor to this coffee maker, the Hamilton Beach Model 47454. We purchased it in December of 2006 and have literally used it every day, sometimes 2 or 3 times in a day. That's over 1400 uses. We paid about $77 and calculate the average cost per use amounts to about 4 cents! The 47454 still works well and we are keeping it in storage as a backup.
br /
br /Regarding the 47665 - we were greatly pleased to see that all the features that made the predecessor so good were not tampered with. It is still intuitive and can be set up and used without referring to the manual. The clock has large numbers on a lighted blue display, important when you are squinting at it through sleepy eyes in the morning. It is simple to set the clock and use the auto brew function - a small green light tells you you have successfully set it to activate. It still keeps coffee hot and fresh without scorching for 2 hours. The usual caveats still apply i.e., make sure the pot is seated securely on the base and that no coffee grounds get in the coffee dispensing receptacle.
br /
br /Now here's the best part. The only thing we found a tad off about the HB47454 was the fact that the coffee holding carafe was difficult to clean. Because of the cramped space it wasn't easy to get your hand inside to scrub it out with every month or so. We would curse and bark our knuckles every time. But it was a small inconvenience given the performance of the coffee pot. The model 47665 has redesigned the carafe and made it much wider. It is now a snap to get in and clean it. This is the only issue I would have suggested improvement on and voila, it has been addressed. Also, we paid about $20 less for this model than its replacement model. What's not to like?
DEFECTIVE March 8, 2010 CCC (Florida) Great concept and loved it until it starting leaking all over the counter...
br /Unfortunately, it seems every model of the Brewstation eventually leaks from the bottom.
br /I have had 2 different models and both had this problem. The second one only after 7 months.
br /Just read all reviews ( especially those that have had it a few months or longer) before you purchase.
very happy, much better than some more expensive options March 4, 2010 Christopher B. Prentiss (Portland, OR) have had literally a dozen or so coffee makers and this is the first one I've kept for over a year and still been pleased.

br /It is very easy to clean and makes coffee fairly quickly. The parts assemble and disassemble quickly and easily. Pouring the water into the brewing basin is a breeze and even though I'm sort of a klutz, I rarely make a mess or spill anything. So far the whole thing has been very sturdy with nothing broken or loose. And, the dispenser is easy to use and accepts even very tall mugs.

br /Areas for improvement. Because the heating element is post-brewing, you have to give the coffee a few minutes to warm up after it brews. (I start with hot water to remedy this.) The carafe is not insulated in anyway, so the only way the coffee stays heated is by the small metal heating element in the carafe. It is sufficiently hot, but it also means the coffee will begin to taste slightly burnt after a few hours. Also, the heating element turns off after two hours. This is good, but since I sip on coffee most of the morning I wish that I could extend this without simply turning the "brew" button on again. Again, having an insulated basin would be better overall.
Great for an office!! February 26, 2010 J. Parker Our office had been looking into buying new coffeemakers that kept coffee warm because we have visitors from 8am until 5pm and always offer coffee. We had considered a pricey Bunn system, but we wanted an automatic shut off for safety, and something programmable so our mornings were hassle free. These are perfect for that use! I don't know if the customers giving bad reviews for leaks possibly just received the result of a quality control flaw, but we bought 2 of these for our office (one for regular, one for decaf) and they work perfectly.

br /The 47665 Model is exactly what is pictured here (On/Off button, Program button, Hour, and Minute buttons). It looks very nice and people keep assuming we spent a ton of money on these because of the way they look. It's the easiest thing ever to program, so our coffee is ready when we walk in at 8. It has an automatic 2 hour shut off, so when I notice it has kicked off, I turn it back on to keep it warm all day. I never gets a "burnt" taste, even by the end of the day. Cleaning is very easy. The units do have heavy condensation inside, but if you just crack the lid and wait for 2 or 3 seconds to let it drip off, then open it all the way, it doesn't run down the back or onto the table.

br /I absolutely recommend this to anyone who is wanting hot hot coffee all day!!
Hamilton Beach BrewStation February 7, 2010 Renee T. Terry (Baltimore MD) This is the coffee maker that you absolutely need if you cant have a carafe (at work) I recommend it to everyone especially in a field where safety and security is an issue. I also recommend it for mothers with small children. There is no carafe for them to touch or break. Excellent product.
