Great vacuum August 27, 2010 J. Harrison This vacuum has been well worth the investment. It performs much better than our old vacuum and we can really tell the filter is working as we vacuum the hair from our four cats. The dust container is much easier to detach and empty than our previous vacuum as it has multiple ways to empty, even an option for someone with dust allergies, as my husband has. It does not get all of the cat hair out of our carpets, but I doubt anything could. I am satisfied with the improved performance and have not had an issue yet.
Waste of money August 27, 2010 Charlie (USA) This vacuum looks impressive but it is not. This does a terrible job on cleaning carpets. Fibers just get spit out and do not get taken up into the canister. After a few uses it is making a strange thumping noise. It has very small hole to take up the dust and fibers that is offset to one side. Thus the brush cannot propel the debris efficiently to be taken up. So the fibers either stick to the brush roller or come flying back out. Cheap price equals cheap quality. Not sure where to turn for a good quality vacuum these days. They all seem to have ditched the bag concept but personally I think that worked much better than these bagless varieties. When you empty these bagless canisters all the junk you vacuumed up flies up in a fine mist as it hits the bottom of the trash bag you put it in. Anybody with a good vacuum suggestion would be appreciated.
Great vacuum August 23, 2010 GB This is a great vacuum. I have only used it a few times but it is quieter and lighter than the one it is replacing. I also like the fact that I can control turning on the powerbrush from the handle. I also like the fact that the hose stretches quite far and then goes back to a normal length (kind of like a slinky feel to it). Well worth the money.
Bissell Healthy Home Vacuum August 22, 2010 TK Bought a Bissell Healthy Home Vacuum as a replacement for aging Dyson DC-7 or -4 that was given to daughter to use.
Bought this Bissell model instead of another Dyson due to high cost and very poor reports on the new Dysons (beater-bar failures and many returns available on eBay).
Bissell is excellent but is not as easy to use as Dyson. Heavier and a little harder to handle. Excellent suction, good quality parts and versitilty. Gets way more dirt up and really fluffs up the carpet compared to the 5 yr old Dyson. Easy to dump canister, do need to wash hands after but no failures so far, 4 mo of weekly use. Nice to have selectable carpet height. Noise is about the same. 5 yr. warranty sounded good, too. Hope that I don't need to use it.
Bought at Target in case I needed to return it. Found last one there on sale today for $139!! Paid $199...oh well, still a good deal.
Still like the looks and ease of use of the Dyson early models. My wife is a little troubled by the extra wt. of the Bissell so I end up doing the vacuuming, no problem.

It's just OK August 20, 2010 S. Scheide (Boston, MA) This unit is reasonably priced, but I've actually stopped using it after only two months. I have brand new carpet; fairly high pile (not shag, but not short either). What this vacuum was collecting in its (small) dust cup were primarily carpet fibers, not dirt and dog hair. I think on short carpet, this might be a four star machine, but I paid good money for my nice thick plush carpet, and I'd just as soon not see it all in my trash. The on-board tools are pretty good. Far easier to use them than my old Dyson. The headlight and wide cleaning path are also good, but the machine weighs a ton and is SO wide, it's hard to maneuver. The collection cup is very small. Debris gets caught between the walls of the cup and the suction making thingy. I didn't enjoy having to reach up into the collection chamber to pull out the crud. On the plus side, it did give me a good upper body workout.
