5 out of 5 stars vacuum works well   March 9, 2010

I like my new vacuum very much. It works very well...love the attachments and they are easy to use. It is very easy to clean and has a nice long cord. I have had it for 2 weeks and vacuum every other day (3 kids and 1 dog), and have no complaints so far. Also shipping from Amazon ROCKS!! Placed order on a Sunday, had the Vacuum by Wednesday.

5 out of 5 stars First Day, So far so good   March 8, 2010

I bought this vacuum today after looking at a lot of reviews. It did a wonderful job. It's lower maintenance than my last one. Only one filter to clean, and just easier to clean over all. The turbo brush is also easy to clean. My last one you could not clean at all. Yuck! The dirt cup is messy to dump, I don't care so much about that as my last one was messy too, I think they all are. It's very easy to dump just dirt flies up of course. You can wrap a bag around it to help cut down on that, I tried it, it's easy enough and there is no more dirt flying around everywhere. I'd like to just dump it outside but my dogs eat the dirt, Ick! The belt is suppose to never have to be changed, yeah we'll see. But it does have a lifetime warranty if it does go out. Along with a 5 year warranty on the rest. It was awesome on my carpets, the tools are easy to use and are good as well. I don't know about the noise, it does not bother me, so I can't tell if it is noisy or not compared to others. It's a vacuum, it's suppose to be loud. I guess it's a little heavy, not real bad but if it's a big deal to you than lift it at a store before you order it here on Amazon to see if it's right for you. The only thing missing is a longer cord. I love that I can take it on my non carpet floors! I have 3 dogs that shed and It is great on the pet hair. You do not have to take off the top to clean the hair off the roller brush. I have long hair so I do it A LOT! Now I just have to tip the unit on it's back and cut it away. Easy. Now as long as it keeps sucking and does not break than I think I have found a winner! It's only the first day. So if I have any troubles I will rewrite my review! It's sad they make these things throw away anymore. But this one seems pretty good quality. Good Luck with whatever vacuum you choose!

4 out of 5 stars works well   March 6, 2010

I purchased this vacuum cleaner three weeks ago and have been very happy with it. It's too early to tell durability but it operates well. I'll try to break it down by features and plus and minus. br /Pluses: br /1. It sucks up debris really well. br /2. The attachment hose is easy to use and the attachment brush works really well on furnature. br /3. Dumping the canister is pretty easy - though be cautioned small particles tend to float up during dumping so make sure you are in the garbage recepticle rather then over it. br /4. The hose attachment is long enough for me to use on my stairs. It's also seems to be a strong hose and flexible. The machine does not tip over when using the hose as I have seen some people note with other machines. br /5. It was easy to assemble. Just pay attention to which screws go into which holes and you'll have it assembled in under 5 minutes. br /6. Love the swivle on the attachment, makes to easy to manuever without ever kinking the hose. br / br /Minuses: br /1. It's heavy. For the average adult it will be no problem, though you will definately know you are pushing a vacuum and taking it up and down the stairs is a bit of a pain. I would not recommend it for any one with back problems, balance problems or compromised lungs (you will get a little work out pushin this machine.) br /2. The edger attachement is really small - good for getting into really small crevises but to do edging on carpeting would be nice to have one with about twice the size.

5 out of 5 stars As good as a Dyson   March 5, 2010

I read all the reviews on this product and similar units as I had to replace my 6-year-old Dyson DC14. The Dyson was great for about 5 years, but this last year has been sketchy. I have three cats (two of which have long hair) and I have to say the Dyson was a trooper. But 6 years ago there weren't any comparable products to the Dyson - now there are, and I have to say the Bissell is really one of them. br / br /The Dyson is a load, plus the head was so tall that i couldn't even get close to cleaning under anything except a table. The Bissell is heavy but i swear it is a little lighter than the Dyson, plus the head is lower so I am able to get under bookcases and dressers with a higher rise. br / br /It has a super strong rotating brush and very strong suction - both of which are outstanding for cleaning pet hair. One bonus with the Bissell is that I can manually adjust for height, and I totally think it works better than the so-called 'automatic' adjustment on the Dyson. I also love the fact that i can turn off the brush (again not able to on the Dyson). br / br /And the attachments are outstanding - especially the rotating pet hair brush. br / br /My only complaint is that the cord isn't as long as the Dyson's was, but boo-hoo. Big deal. br / br /Overall - I think I chose wisely. Amazon had the cheapest price and with the added bonus of free shipping, I didn't even have to worry about lugging it home myself.

5 out of 5 stars It sucks in a good way!   February 25, 2010

Hello my fellow Amazonians! br /After much research and pain, afterall buying a vacuum is not a fun process. I have spent the past years buying the $50-80 K-mart brands and replacing them every two years. So not spending a huge amount for a vacuum was important, but I was definately willing to go up the ladder a bit. After all the reviews this one slides to the top spot. Dyson, Miele, Kenmore was consistantly rated the best, but the price was to hard to swallow. br / br /My choice was based on the following factors: 1) reliability 2) suction 3) price 4) quality 5) company standing behind their product br /This vacuum which replaced the old 5770 model (had great reviews). Was trying very hard not to spend $500 dollars on a vacumm. I mean its a damn vacuum?! Who know how complicated a freaking vacuum could get...?! LoL! My wife joked I gave her a book report after the purchase. Ok back to the review. Upon receiving the vacuum, the packaging was in the original box, no issues with that, all components were included. Four screws and the thing was put together. Very easy. Took longer to get it out of the box than it was to put it together. br / br /Pros: br /1. nice long cord. (it does wrap up in the traditional sense) br /2. attachements are logical. (the turbo brush does lock into place with push button to unlock), the hose attachement extends, and the hose is of quality construction, not just some plastic crap. However the wand is plastic crap at least it seems that way to me. br /3. the emptying is pretty cool, the bottom of the dirt cup is spring loaded. (BE SURE TO HAVE IT OVER THE TRASH CAN, OR YOU WILL BE RE VACUUMING THAT SPOT) not that I found out the hard way or anything... ;) br /4. it sucks! does the carpet very nicely. Easy to push (is a little heavy) not important to me or the Mrs. but thought I would note it. br /5. The back wheels are big and make turning the vac very easy. The vacuum itself is well thought out and made of a heavier plastic than the cheaper ones. It is a nice vac. br /6. The power button is on the handle, not down low, where you have to stomp on it with your foot. Easy click on,off. br / br /Cons: br /1. Only one I can think of. YOU MUST have the vacuum handle in the down position. Meaning, click the foot lock to disengage the upright position. This must be done BEFORE you turn the vacuum on or the beater bar will not turn. This freaked me out for a minute. I had to scan the instructions to get this. Not a huge deal, but something to keep in mind. br / br /I am happy with my purchase. The price and the quick delivery from the big A! I will update this later from a reliability stand point. But so far I am very hopeful.
