 Not the vacuum for hard floors August 10, 2010

I bought this vacuum because it had been rated well for hard floors and pet hair. What no one tells you is that for hard floors you have to take the motorized head off and put the very-common-no-moving-parts-head on. Well, geez, any vacuum can clean a hard floor once you do that but unfortunately, on this model, that head constantly falls off while in use. With the motorized head on, it will not pick up sand off a tile floor. With the no-moving parts head on, it still takes repeated passes over sand to pick it up. The no-moving parts head does work fine on pet hair on the tile floor, if it would stay on. This vacuum works fine on my rugs. The best thing about this vacuum was how easy it was to empty the canister and how easy it was to pull the canister around. The automatic cord winder is nice too. Otherwise this vacuum was inferior to my old Hoover upright in every way. I have returned the unit. Amazon was great about making that easy for me so I will do more research and order a different one from Amazon.

It all started when I agreed to look at a Rainbow for a friend, and I saw how much dirt my old vacuum was missing. So I started looking for a replacement. I have an 18 month old and just knew that his runny noses had something to do with all that dirt that came from my carpet. Wanted to invest some money but not over $2,000 for the rainbow. Looked at several Dyson's, and did not feel that they were well built, felt cheap and way too much plastic. So I looked at consumer reports and this was at the top of the list. I could not find one in a store so I bought this unit without seeing it or trying it out. I could not be happier with this vacuum. Picks up so much more dirt than my upright ever did, and is perfect if you have a lot of hard floors. My childs runny noses are now few and far between. I can also tell there is a lot less dust in my home between vacuums. The warranty is 6 years, which is a full year longer than Dyson as well. Great purchase!!!!!

This unit is everything I expected. It is a bit awkward due to the weight and size, but the vacuum ability well makes up for the added effort. It takes a little more room for storage. The bagless feature is excellent and very easy to use.

I have always been a canister vacuum person. Had Sears Kenmore previously which lasted me 17 years with only one repair. Thought I would try another brand thinking the technology may have come a long way. Did a lot of internet research and chose this Hoover. However, I am not overly impressed. Let's start with the pros: it's bagless... 6 yr. warranty... love the under furniture swivel action... not too noisy... telescoping handle comes in handy. The cons are: bulky to handle... not powerful enough... attachments don't click into handle (including beater bar) so they keep disconnecting from handle while vacuuming... floor brush has no spot to be held on canister... retractable cord has to be fed back in, does not retract on it's own... beater bar does not pick up everything on carpets even at the lowest setting. Having said all that, I think the negatives outweigh the positives. It does an OK job but not great. I'm disappointed.

I just received this last week and it is a great vacuum. Great suction, does a really good job on carpets and excellent on hardwood floors. It feels real solid.Pieces go together with a solid feel and it just feels like quality. And it is VERY quiet, cannot believe how quiet it is for something so powerful. And it is so easy to clean out the canister. It comes off easy, you hold it over the garbage and push a button and bottom opens and junk falls out...so easy. I have owned several through the years mostly uprights, but wanted something that is good and will last. So far so good. And it has a very cool look to it!!!
