| Customer Reviews: Best Vac!! March 1, 2010 Adrianne Sharp 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had this vac for about 4 months and it has done a great job for me!! We have three dogs in the house and a lot of carpet and the Hoover gets up the pet hair everytime!! One of my dogs is a Sheltie and she has very very long hair and is now shedding it everywhere but I just get out the Hoover and it comes up easily!! I have used the vac on tile and it seems to do as good of a job on tile as carpet!!
THIS VACUUM ROCKS! February 22, 2010 oooma 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This vacuum is awesome! It took me several weeks and lots of research before deciding on this vac, and I know I made the right choice. I don't like to say that I'm cheap, but I can be a little conservative with my money. I was torn between this and one of those pricier vacuums with the ball. I am so happy with my purchase. I agree with the other 5 star reviews that this vacuum doesn't get everything at the edges, but that's why there's attachments. The suction is so strong that I could lift my carpet with the hose. The amount of dirt this thing gets up is unbelieveable! I had to go over my carpets several times to get the "dirty" indicator to go off, but when all the dirt finally came out, it switched to "clean". It's embarassing to admit, but I got over a pound of dirt out of my living room carpet! I guess you really don't know what's in your carpets until you have a quality vacuum. I recommend emptying this outside because of all the dust and fine particles. Some people may find this vacuum a little heavy, but I wanted a good, sturdy vacuum after years of inheriting everyone else's junk! I love it!
Does what I want it to, but with some compromises February 14, 2010 B. Kauffman (Portland, OR) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have to say that, first off, I have two long haired cats. They shed EVERYWHERE. I also have pretty robust allergies, so it was important to get a vacuum that I felt would handle all the hair, dust, etc or our largely carpeted house. In that regard, I could not be happier. This picks up so much out of the floors that our old vacuums left behind. The clean/dirty indicator light is also kind of mesmerizing (how effective it is I don't know) It also does a great job at picking up debris on our hard surfaces and it is wonderful to be able to turn the brush off to do so. No more rolling over things multiple times, only to have them rattle around and shoot off in another direction. This has incredibly strong suction power. The cord is incredibly long and the electronic height adjustment could not be easier to use. I feel like it handles pretty well also.
br /
br /Where things could be improved: The dust bin is kind of messy to empty as many others have noted. If you have a hard floor surface to use to close it again, you need not involve your fingers however. The on board tools are a joke, and almost seem like an afterthought. The vacuum itself is a bit on the heavy side as well (good exercise if you have carpeted stairs as I do).
br /
br /As for the tools, a small fix took care of that: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000VD5TG6/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_titleBissell 3260 Pet Pack Vacuum-Cleaner Attachments - it attaches with ease to the hoover and provides an excellent wide path spin brush and upholstery tool for very little extra money. More than makes up for the tools that come with the Hoover, and still saves you a bunch over a Dyson.
br /
br /Overall: The vacuum isn't perfect, but I feel like it is quite good for the price and strongly comparable to the somewhat more expensive Dysons.
Hoover gets the Dirt! February 13, 2010 G. M. Anderson (Orinda, CA, US) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After 25 years of using a Hoover hand me down (from my Mom) I decided I needed to find something a little more state of the art to clean with. Not a hard task! The old Hoover had run it's course and was basically worn out. After reading lots of reviews for different brands and models, I bought another Hoover.
br /I'm very satisfied. It has a lot of cleaning power and has features I really like: Height settings (controlled by an electric switch on the upper handle) which lower and raise the cleaning unit to accommodate different cleaning needs. The first of four settings (the highest) is great for hardwood and tile floors which I have a lot of. The brushes do not rotate on this setting - just suction which appears to do the job well. The 2nd through 4th height settings result in lowering the unit closer to the floor and start the brushes rotating to brush the carpet as it cleans. For the carpeted area of my house, I've never had to go beyond the second of the four height settings.
br /I love the "Dirty/Clean" light which seems pretty accurate in determining what areas are clean and which aren't. Kind of fun watching it turn "Clean" after cleaning a section.
br /Also, the "bagless" unit makes it easier to toss the dirt from the easily removed dirt container which snaps out for an easy trip to the trash can. I'm always amazed how much debris and dust gets captured during my twice a month cleanings. Okay, maybe this is not the cleanest house on the block but it's still nice to see the dirt disappear when I do clean. The unit is a bit bulky but the rollers are useful for maneuvering it about.
br /All in all, this vacuum sucks! (In a good way!)
Best Vacuum I've Ever Owned! February 12, 2010 L. Boisvert (CLERMONT, FLORIDA, US) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I researched vacuum cleaners for a month and everything that I was looking for lead me to the Hoover. My comparisons were Dyson and Meile, which are way out of my price range! I have a two bedroom apartment (approx 1200 sq ft) two kids and a small dog. I buy a vacuum about every six months. I wanted something that was going to last and keep working!!! I think I'm going to be very happy with this vacuum. Price was right on Amazon ($250ish). Assembly was very easy. Two screws to attach the handle to the unit and I was ready to go! The suction is amazing!!! I wanted to address some of the complaints that I've seen on many boards.... The dirt cup IS hard to close. But just hold down the button you pressed to open it and it will catch the latch. Stop trying to slam it shut!! I was able to figure it out and my hands did not get dirty!! The only time my hands did get dirty was emptying the cyclonic cone. No big deal. I expect that when I have a bagless unit. I'm not sure how sophisticated dumping dirt can be...realistic expectations people!!! I suspect that regular vacuuming with this unit will cut down on the number of times I have to empty it...as its first use was excessive because it was picking up after a far inferior vacuum. I also read about the hose being too short. Again, realistic expectations...I gave it a good stretch before using it and I was able to reach the ceiling....what more do you want? I see they sell an attachment.... And for this thing not being self propelled (and I will admit, I've never owned one) it sure did jump right into action when I turned it on! A six year warrantee is nice too...that says to me that they stand behind the workmanship and don't expect anything to break...and if it does they will fix it! SIX YEARS!! After buying a new vacuum every six months...that sounds pretty sweet!! I'm very happy with my purchase!! Thank you Hoover!!
