This is our first experience with a mattress pad that is more than the old fashion cotton quilted type. It makes the sleeping surface a little softer and is pretty comfortable. The reason I don't give it 5 stars is that it holds body heat and feels warmer than our old mattress pad. This will be great in the winter. We are not uncomfortable, but prefer a cooler feel for the summer. After reading the other reviews prior to purchasing this and seeing other references to problems melting in the dryer, my plan is to line dry it when I wash it.

I had a mattress that was WAY too soft and really hurt my back (I sleep on my stomach only). I replaced it with a new mattress, and might've gotten a bit zealous because I went on the other end of the spectrum with a firm one. Well it was WAY too firm, and I learned a little lesson about jumping into things head first...
This completely evens out my zealousness though. I get the support from a firm mattress but a little bit of plushness too from this pad. it's actually surprisingly perfect now, and if the pad wears out the way my old pillow top mattress did (and it wasn't old, only 18 months), I can restore it back to new just by buying another pad, as opposed to a new mattress.
That's worthy of five stars for sure.

I can't believe how great this pad looks. I never thought I'd get excited about a mattress pad but this is an unexpected bargain. Queen was on sale for #31.95, so I feel I scored a bargain. I was worried about how the pad would fit over my pillow top mattress but it fits perfectly.

The Simmons Beautyrest Mattress pad is lumpy and did not remake my bed. It does keep the mattress clean, though.

This mattress pad is the most quality built one I've ever seen. The padding is thick enough to help make a worn mattress top feel soft again, and made my firm feel softer. It doesn't provide support, but it actually feels like you are laying on top of a good comforter. The fabric allows the sheets to slide on it and has yet to bunch up on me either.
